Description
The Panasonic Lumix DC-S5II is a compact, versatile hybrid full-frame mirrorless camera body featuring a new 24.2 CMOS sensor and processing engine for high quality photos and video with unlimited recording. Advanced features like PDAF and Active I.S. technology help you to capture stunning content in any situation. The Lumix S5II is the first Lumix mirrorless camera to offer the Phase Detection AF system, which dramatically improves subject tracking and light recognition performance.
24.2MP CMOS sensor with Dual Native ISO technology
Whether you are taking stills or shooting video, the LUMIX S5II delivers uncompromising image quality, combining high resolution and a
Phase Detection AF. Moreover, utilizing Dual Native ISO technology familiar to users of Panasonic Varicam models for professionals,
the S5II leverages a dual-base ISO setting to minimize noise and maximize image quality from low to high sensitivity. This feature teams up
with a new engine to deliver maximum ISO 51200 / Extended ISO 204800 for minimal noise at high sensitivity and beautiful expression of dark
areas in the frame. Whenever professional-level low-light shooting is required, the LUMIX S5II is ready for action.
Next-generation engine
The new engine delivers approximately twice the processing power as before, enabling high-speed processing of higher-resolution,
higher bit-rate video. It is equipped with technology invested and developed jointly by LEICA and LUMIX. Combination of the new sensor
and engine achieves both Phase Detection AF and high image quality for photos and videos.
96MP ultra-high-resolution recording
High Resolution Mode allows you to shoot ultra-detailed nature shots with a tripod, as well as other works of art that combine grandeur
with precision. The camera automatically captures eight consecutive images while shifting the sensor, and the new engine’s high-speed
signal processing smoothly synthesizes them into a 96-megapixel equivalent (12,000 x 8,000-pixel) image. RAW and JPEG file recording
during shooting and RAW processing during playback (RAW-to-JPEG conversion) are supported, with quick access via the drive mode dial.
Live View Composite
The camera takes multiple images, creating composite images from only those areas that vary in brightness.
This feature is convenient for taking images of the night sky that show the light trails of stars or fireworks.
Each time the shutter is operated, a composite image is displayed, allowing users to shoot while confirming the results in real time.
6K 10-bit recording
With 6K (5952x3968, 3:2), 6K (5952x3136, 17:9) and 5.9K (5888x3312, 16:9) 4:2:0 10-bit 30p/25p/24p modes, the LUMIX S5II offers
higher resolution and higher bit rates than ever before, and delivers the latest in high image quality, versatility, and expressive range
needed for film, TV, and all types of video production.
14+ stops of V-Log and V-Gamut
V-Log and V-Gamut come preinstalled. Users will enjoy impressively accurate color reproduction, subtle gradations from dark areas to highlights, and precise control of colour data in post-production.
The end result is more creative and satisfying color expression. Moreover, footage shot with the LUMIX S5II can be seamlessly edited with footage shot with VariCam cameras.
The V-Log of the LUMIX S5II offers 14+ stops of dynamic range, which covers the PQ requirement of HDR, while V-Gamut covers the full HDR colour
spectrum, giving users access to HDR shooting.
Easy colour grading with REAL TIME LUT
LUT-applied photos and videos can be recorded internally without any special software. Even if you don’t have specialized editing skills,
the camera helps you expand your range of expression as much as you want.
779-point AF
The number of AF points has been increased to 779. The improved tracking performance allows the camera to continue to capture even small
subjects that are easily out of focus. Even when using 1-Area AF, the AF frame can be set as small as pinpoint level, helping the creator
focus on the subject as intended.
AI based recognition technology
Deep Learning technology enables high-speed, high-precision recognition and
tracking of humans (face, eyes, heads, and bodies) and animals (dogs, cats, and birds).
Active I.S. Technology (great for shooting as you walk)
The LUMIX S5II is equipped with Active I.S., which supports walking shots, to further enhance image stabilization in video recording. By determining the status of camera shake and optimizing correction ratios, the system can
compensate for even significant camera shake, approximately 200%* more than conventional systems.
6.5-stop Dual I.S. 2 Image Stabiliser
5-axis Dual I.S. 2 Image Stabiliser combines control of the B.I.S. and Lens O.I.S. to offer up to 6.5 stops worth of correction.
30fps burst shooting
Thanks to the new sensor’s higher readout speed and new engine’s superior processing power,
the LUMIX S5II delivers AFC burst shooting using the electronic shutter at 30 frames per second with 24.2-megapixel resolution.
The sensor’s higher readout speed also minimises rolling shutter distortion and captures images too fast for the naked eye to process.
4ch audio recording
The LUMIX S5II delivers much improved audio recording performance, with 4ch 48kHz or 96kHz 24-bit recording possible when an XLR microphone
adaptor DMW-XLR1 (sold separately) is attached. This LUMIX S5II gives you much greater flexibility when shooting outdoors, for example,
where multiple audio sources are present, or when recording backup audio. Now also supports 2ch 48kHz 24-bit recording with the
built-in mic and 2ch 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution recording* with an external mic (sold separately).
Tough, durable body
The tough body is ready to take on a variety of challenging shooting environments. The magnesium alloy full die-cast frame is highly durable,
while sealing helps protect seam, dial, and button. The camera is dust- and splash-resistant. In combination, these features
help make shooting both productive and enjoyable in a wide range of weather conditions.
Viewfinder for excellent colour reproduction
The 3,680k-dot 0.78x live view finder uses a highly responsive, easy-to-see OLED display to capture even fast-moving subjects in fine detail.
In addition, the high contrast display (approx. 10,000:1) presents the subject with fine gradations and high clarity throughout.
Vari-angle LCD monitor
LUMIX S5II features a 1840k-dot 3.0-inch LCD. With outstanding brightness and a wide colour gamut, it offers high visibility for outdoor shoots. Its free-angle touch screen makes it easy to compose high and low-angle shots,
further adding to the convenience and flexibility of the camera.
Double SD card slot
Both SD card slots are UHS-II SDXC card compatible. Relay Recording allows relays recording between memory cards when the initial card becomes full during recording. Backup Recording allows the same data to be recorded to both cards at the same time. Allocation Record mode allows you to specify
the card slot to be used for recording still photographs and video.
